I am a very satisfied patient! Dr Gula has been my dentist for 12 years and I will not go to anyone else. It’s not often you meet someone who genuinely cares about the well being of their patient like this dentist. I have questions and I get honest answers. She is compassionate and understanding. I am fortunate to have found Dr Gula!


I love City Edge Dental! They are very professional and do outstanding work. They are also very kind and compassionate and take a very real interest in the patient ‘s well being. I would highly recommend this practice and I’m very selective in my dental health care because my father was a dentist and I expect the same high standards. They exceed my expectations.
Sloane R.

Fantastic staff, I always feel like they all really care about me as a patient and are attentive to my needs. I don't have insurance so I really appreciate how flexible they are with payment plans and that they don't try to sell me extra stuff unless I really need it. Thanks to Dr. Gula my gingivitis is almost gone and my teeth are the healthiest they've ever been. I definitely recommend City Edge!
Taylor J.

The entire experience with City Edge Dental was great. Usually dentists and dental assistants have a hard time hiding their judgments but it seemed like this team understood how life can get in the way of regular appointments. My only tip would be to not continually call your customers to continue using your services. Again, life. The way of reaching back out should be revamped but the actual dental experience was fine.
Alethea B.

This place is full of great women! I seriously hate going to the dentist but this was the most gentle teeth cleaning Ive ever had and they were very transparent with pricing and checked with my insurance before doing anything. Will be back!

I have spent the past two years trying different dentists in hopes of finding one that I felt provided excellent quality in a comfortable environment. After my cleaning appointment, I knew I had found what I was looking for in the past months. The office was clean and follows all the latest infection control recommendations, the staff was very welcoming, and Dr. Gula took her time to explain my treatment choices. I already have my next appointment!

Hygienist did an incredible job on cleaning and whitening while being so nice and gentle. I will never go anywhere else for my dental needs, i wish i had found them sooner! Immediate Dental Care for Emergencies and Injuries

Patient in pain from dental emergency

What Qualifies as a Dental Emergency?

Dental emergencies can manifest in various ways, and it's essential to recognize the signs that require immediate attention. If you experience any of the following symptoms or situations, it is considered a dental emergency:

  • Severe toothache or persistent dental pain
  • Broken, chipped, or cracked tooth
  • Knocked-out (avulsed) tooth
  • Loose or displaced tooth
  • Bleeding from the mouth or gums
  • Facial swelling or abscess
  • Injury to the soft tissues of the mouth
  • Lost dental filling or crown
  • Severe infection or tooth abscess

If you are unsure whether your situation qualifies as a dental emergency, don't hesitate to contact our office. Our friendly staff will assess your condition over the phone and provide guidance on the necessary steps.

What to Do in an Emergency Situation

In the event of a dental emergency, it's important to stay calm and take appropriate actions to minimize discomfort and prevent further damage. Here are some essential steps you can follow before visiting our office:

Contact Us: Call City Edge Dental immediately to schedule an emergency appointment. Our compassionate staff will prioritize your case and provide further instructions tailored to your situation.

Control Bleeding: If you're experiencing bleeding, gently rinse your mouth with warm water and apply a clean cloth or gauze to the affected area. Apply slight pressure to help stop the bleeding.

Relieve Pain: Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen can help manage pain and reduce inflammation. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gums or tooth, as it may cause further irritation.

Preserve a Knocked-out Tooth: If a tooth has been completely knocked out, handle it carefully by the crown (the visible part) and rinse it gently with water. If possible, try to place the tooth back into its socket, but do not force it. If it can't be reinserted, keep it moist by placing it in a container of milk or saliva until you reach our office.

Remember, time is of the essence during a dental emergency. Seeking immediate professional care increases the chances of successful treatment and prevents complications.

Emergency Treatments and Procedures

Chipped or Cracked Tooth Repair

A chipped or cracked tooth can not only affect your smile but also lead to sensitivity, pain, and further damage if left untreated. At City Edge Dental, we provide effective solutions to repair and restore your tooth's structure, including:

  • Dental Bonding: Using tooth-colored resin, our dentists can fill in chips and cracks, reshaping the tooth and restoring its natural appearance.
  • Dental Crowns: In cases of severe damage or weakened tooth structure, a dental crown can be placed over the tooth, providing strength, protection, and aesthetic improvement.

Crowns

Dental crowns are versatile restorations that serve multiple purposes. They can address not only chipped or cracked teeth but also extensive decay, large fillings, or root canal-treated teeth. Our dental crown procedures include:

  • Evaluation and Preparation: Our dentist will carefully examine your tooth and prepare it by removing any damaged or decayed portions. An impression of the tooth will then be taken to create a custom-made crown.
  • Temporary Crown: While your permanent crown is being fabricated, a temporary crown will be placed to protect the tooth.
  • Permanent Crown Placement: Once your customized crown is ready, our dentist will ensure its proper fit, color, and shape before permanently bonding it to your tooth. The result is a strong, natural-looking restoration that blends seamlessly with your smile.

Root Canals

When the pulp of a tooth becomes infected or inflamed due to deep decay or trauma, a root canal procedure may be necessary to save the tooth and alleviate pain. At City Edge Dental, our root canal treatments involve:

  • Diagnosis and Evaluation: Our dentist will examine the affected tooth, taking X-rays if necessary, to determine the extent of the infection and plan the appropriate treatment.
  • Pulp Removal: After administering local anesthesia to ensure your comfort, our dentist will carefully remove the infected or inflamed pulp from the tooth's interior.
  • Disinfection and Filling: The root canal space will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before being filled with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha. This step prevents further infection and strengthens the tooth.
  • Restoration: In most cases, a dental crown is placed over the treated tooth to provide protection, strength, and a natural appearance.

Tooth Extractions

Sometimes, a severely damaged, infected, or impacted tooth may require extraction to prevent further complications and preserve oral health. At City Edge Dental, our skilled dentists perform tooth extractions with precision and care, providing the following services:

  • Evaluation: Our dentist will evaluate your tooth, considering your symptoms and diagnostic images, to determine if extraction is necessary.
  • Anesthesia and Sedation: We offer various options for anesthesia and sedation to ensure your comfort during the procedure.
  • Tooth Removal: Our dentist will gently and carefully extract the tooth, employing techniques to minimize discomfort and promote healing.
  • Post-extraction Care: We will provide you with detailed instructions on how to care for the extraction site and promote healing. We can also discuss tooth replacement options to restore your smile and dental functionality.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is considered a dental emergency?

A dental emergency refers to any situation that requires immediate dental attention to alleviate pain, prevent further damage, or address an urgent oral health issue. Common dental emergencies include severe toothache, knocked-out teeth, broken or cracked teeth, facial swelling, and persistent bleeding.

Should I go to the emergency room for a dental emergency?

While the emergency room can provide initial care for dental emergencies, it is recommended to visit a dentist for specialized dental treatment. Dentists are equipped to handle dental emergencies and can provide comprehensive care specifically tailored to your oral health needs.

How soon should I seek treatment for a dental emergency?

It is crucial to seek treatment for a dental emergency as soon as possible. Timely care increases the chances of saving a tooth, preventing complications, and reducing pain. Contact a dentist immediately or visit their office to receive prompt attention and appropriate treatment.

What should I do if I have a tooth knocked out?

If you have a knocked-out tooth, it is essential to act quickly. Rinse the tooth gently with water, avoiding scrubbing or removing any tissue fragments. Try to reinsert the tooth into its socket if possible, holding it by the crown. If reinsertion is not possible, place the tooth in a container of milk or saliva and bring it to the dentist as soon as possible.

How can I manage dental pain at home before seeing a dentist?

To manage dental pain at home temporarily, you can take over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen, following the instructions on the packaging. Applying a cold compress to the affected area may also help reduce swelling and alleviate discomfort. However, it is important to remember that these are temporary measures, and seeking professional dental care is necessary for long-term relief.

What if I have a dental emergency outside of regular office hours?

In case of a dental emergency outside of regular office hours, contact an emergency dentist or their office's emergency contact number. Many dental practices offer after-hours emergency services to ensure that patients receive the care they need, even during non-business hours.

How much will emergency dental treatment cost?

The cost of emergency dental treatment can vary depending on the nature and extent of the emergency, as well as the specific treatments required. It is best to contact our office directly for information about their fees and payment options. We can also provide guidance on dental insurance coverage or offer financing options to help make the treatment affordable for you.

Can I prevent dental emergencies?

While some dental emergencies are unavoidable, there are steps you can take to minimize the risk. Maintain good oral hygiene practices, including brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and visiting your dentist for regular check-ups. Avoid biting or chewing on hard objects, and use protective mouthguards during sports activities to reduce the likelihood of dental injuries.

Is a chipped tooth considered a dental emergency?

A chipped tooth may or may not be considered a dental emergency, depending on the severity and symptoms. If the chip is minor and does not cause pain or sensitivity, it may not require immediate attention. However, if the chip is significant, accompanied by pain, or affects the tooth's function, it is advisable to seek emergency dental care to prevent further damage or infection.

Can a dentist fix a broken or cracked tooth?

Yes, a dentist can fix a broken or cracked tooth. They will evaluate the extent of the damage and recommend appropriate treatment options, such as dental bonding, porcelain veneers, or dental crowns. Prompt intervention can help restore the tooth's structure, alleviate pain, and enhance its appearance.
