The story behind Dr. Gula’s Excellence

While building her practice, she was also building a family. As the mother of two young children, she balanced the demands of business ownership and parenthood with determination and grace. When her marriage ended, she faced one of the most difficult transitions of her life. Yet even during that challenging season, she continued moving forward, raising her children, growing her practice, and pursuing excellence in her profession.
Dr. Gula’s story is one of courage, reinvention, and unwavering determination. It is a story shaped not only by education and professional achievement, but by resilience, artistry, motherhood, and the belief that it is never too late to build a meaningful life. She arrived in the United States with just $100 in her pocket and a dream she refused to abandon. Long before she became a dentist, Dr. Gula was an architect. She studied architecture and worked on large-scale projects in London, designing shopping centers and refining the artistic eye and precision that would later define her work in dentistry.

Her early career taught her how to balance beauty, structure, and functionality. Skills that would unexpectedly become the perfect foundation for creating healthy, confident smiles. After relocating to North America, she began working on smaller, community-centered projects, including an Indian health center. That experience changed her life. Contributing to a place dedicated to health and healing rekindled a deeper desire within her: the desire to work directly with people and help improve their lives in a more personal way. That calling led her to pursue dentistry at Northwestern University, where she quickly realized how naturally her background in design complemented clinical care.

Dentistry, she discovered, is far more than fixing teeth. It is part artist, part architect, part physicist, part surgeon and above all, part therapist and trusted friend. Every smile requires an understanding of aesthetics, function, breathing, comfort, and confidence. For Dr. Gula dentistry became the perfect intersection of science, artistry, and human connection. Those experiences shaped the way she cares for patients today. She understands vulnerability. She understands fear, uncertainty, and starting over. And because of that, patients often say they feel genuinely seen, heard, and cared for in her office.

Now, with nearly three decades of experience, Dr. Gula continues to invest deeply in advanced education and comprehensive care. She recently completed extensive Invisalign MOLLIS training, focusing not only on straightening teeth, but on how aligner therapy can improve airway health, breathing, and long-term wellness. She is also advancing her expertise in full-mouth reconstruction through advanced training with prosthodontist Dean Vafiadis in New York and completed the Implant Pathway program with Justin Moody. Her philosophy has always been rooted in comprehensive, patient-centered dentistry. She believes exceptional care begins with listening, understanding each patient’s goals, concerns, lifestyle, and health history before creating a personalized treatment plan. Whether restoring function through implants, improving confidence with Invisalign, rebuilding a smile through full-mouth rehabilitation, or simply helping someone feel comfortable in the dental chair again, her goal is always the same: to provide care that is thoughtful, modern, compassionate, and lasting. As an immigrant, entrepreneur, mother, and clinician, Dr. Gula deeply values community and trust. She knows firsthand the importance of hope, hard work, and people who believe in you along the way. That perspective has shaped the welcoming environment she has created for patients from all backgrounds. For her, dentistry is never just about teeth. It is about helping people breathe better, smile confidently, feel healthier, and regain a sense of self. And if her journey proves anything, it is that with persistence, courage, and continual growth, extraordinary things are possible!!
