Your First

Visit

Going to the dentist can be overwhelming, especially for first-time visits. Let us put your concerns and anxieties to rest.

What to Expect

Our goal is to make the patient experience comfortable. The dentist will perform a complete oral examination and discuss any treatment you may need. The examination can identify conditions such as tooth decay, periodontal disease, and even oral cancer. Teeth cleaning may be performed during your first visit or might be scheduled for a follow-up visit depending on the condition of your teeth and gums. Your first appointment will take between 1–1½ hours. Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent.

What to Bring

To make your visit as pleasant and brief as possible, there are a few things you should bring with you. If you’ve had dental X-rays in the last six months, please bring them to your first appointment. If you don’t have them, plan on biting down on that little cardboard thingy. New X-rays will be taken. With just a few simple forms, we’ll ask for relevant medical history, any medications you might be taking, your dental history, and any dental insurance coverage you may have.

Regular Preventive Care

We encourage regular checkups for individuals aged two and up. Most people find that it is valuable to have a checkup at least every six months so your dentist can:

  • Check for problems that you might not see or feel
  • Find early signs of decay and gum disease
  • Treat oral health problems early while they are still manageable

Regular checkups include a thorough cleaning, polishing, and an oral exam by the doctor. During the oral exam, your dentist checks the health of your mouth, teeth, gums, cheeks, and tongue. At each visit, your dentist will check old fillings and restorations because constant pressure from chewing, grinding, or clenching can cause them to wear away, chip, or crack.

Regular checkup appointments typically take 30 to 60 minutes. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately.

We’ll Handle the Rest

Our team will confirm your dental benefits to help you get the most from your insurance. We will also file all claims and forms as a courtesy to you. If you require additional assistance, we offer a full range of payment options and affordable financing plans to help you cover all treatment costs.
